| U.S. Census Bureau Needs REALTORS® |
| Pennsylvania REALTORS® looking to supplement their incomes have a chance to make more than $13 an hour verifying addresses and collecting data for the 2010 census. The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting full- and part-time workers for up to 40 hours per week beginning in 2009. Work is available near the worker's home. To qualify, workers must pass a 28-question basic skills test administered by the bureau. Call 1-866-861-2010 to schedule a test or visit census.gov. |

| PAR staff kicked off REALTORS® Reach Out week on Monday, Oct. 20, by refurbishing the Rutherford House in Harrisburg. Staff members showed off their extreme makeover talents by painting, cleaning and doing odd jobs throughout the historic home that now serves as a senior center. After hearing a few haunting tales of the 1858 home, a few staff members went ghost hunting but no spirits were found, maybe they’re saving their energy for Halloween? Take a look at some of the Ty Pennington wannabes... |

With the enactment of Act 59 of 2008, two additional seats on the State Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers will be open to industry members. According to PAR policy, those members who are interested in gaining PAR support for appointment to the Board must submit a letter of interest, resume, and any further information the applicant finds pertinent. The deadline for interested parties to submit the required information is October 29, 2008. We ask that you inform your membership of this deadline, and personally encourage those who you feel would be an asset to the Board to apply. After the deadline, the Legislative Planning Group will consider all resumes and shall exercise their judgment to recommend support for individuals to the governor for consideration. This recommendation shall be final and shall not require ratification from another PAR committee or body. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Members of the Board are appointed for terms of four (4) years and may serve no more than two (2) consecutive terms. It is generally recognized that continuing volunteerism at PAR may pose a conflict of interest for those serving on the Board. Therefore, members of the Board who are also members of PAR generally resign from all PAR duties. Board members receive compensation at the rate of $60 per diem when attending to the work of the Board. The Board meets once per month, and generally convenes in Harrisburg but does travel to at least one other city per year. |

The committee will begin the planning process before the end of the year and hopes to begin implementing recommendations next year. View Dr. Gonzales' presentation from the PAR September Business Meetings.
