Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI)
The GRI designation after your name shows you mean business

The GRI is the nation’s #1 residential real estate designation. It signifies your dedication, knowledge and professional achievement.

The GRI is granted by state associations whose courses of study meet standards established by the National Association of REALTORS®. The Pennsylvania REALTORS® Institute (PRI) is the exclusive sponsor of the GRI in Pennsylvania.

To earn the GRI designation, candidates must complete 5 required courses and choose 2 elective courses for a total of 12 course days or 90 curriculum hours.

•Courses can be taken in any order but the program must be completed within 5 years of the start date
•Each course includes a written exam, which must be passed with a grade of at least 70%

GRI 400, Business Development for the Residential Specialist
(RS 200), 2 days

Learn the fundamentals of business planning that lead to increased profit and productivity.

GRI 401, Listing Strategies for the Residential Specialist
(RS 201), 2 days
Learn the basic skills necessary to conduct effective listing presentations and increase your conversion rate. (GRI, CRS, 14 hours CE,  Broker credit)

GRI 402, Sales Strategies for the Residential Specialist
(RS 202), 2 days

Develop a competitive advantage in understanding your customer’s needs, showing homes, sales strategies, and principles of negotiation.

GRI 403, Managing Risk in Real Estate, 2 days
Reduce your risk through an understanding of misrepresentation, anti-trust, fair housing, ADA, environmental law, agency/buyer representation, and contracts/real estate forms.
(GRI, 14 hours CE, Brokers credit, 6 hours appraisal credit)

GRI 404, Building Blocks for the Real Estate Professional, 2 days
A successful real estate career depends on a familiarity with basic business issues including taxation, professional standards, finance, and technology

GRI 500, Know Your Property, 1 day
Knowing your property is critical. Learn about site structure, style, and mechanical systems; environmental hazards; and home inspections and warranties.

GRI 501, Pricing & Evaluating Residential Property, 1 day
Explore pricing residential property including the Appraiser’s role, conducting a comparative market analysis, the sales comparison approach, and the VA & FHA Appraisal Process.

GRI 502, Real Estate Investment & Property Management, 1 day
Become familiar with the nature of real estate as an investment, and learn the job functions involved in property management.
(GRI, 7 hours CE, 3 hours appraisal credit)

GRI 503, Introduction to Commercial, Syndication & Land Development, 1 day
Explore opportunities in commercial and industrial real estate and learn about terminology, business forms and contracts, and career specialization.
(GRI, 7 hours CE, 3 hours appraisal credit)


GRI 504, Technology Applications in Real Estate, 1 day
Learn about computer hardware and software, appropriate for the real estate professional, and how it can make you more efficient, productive, and profitable.
(GRI, 7 hours CE)

 *Elective credit will be given for coursework toward certain other NAR designation or certification program, such as the ABR and Resort & Second Home Markets.
