Section 35.384(b) of the State Real Estate Commission’s regulations authorizes the Commission to require licensees to complete a required course in order to satisfy the continuing education requirement. The Commission has determined that such a course is warranted for salespersons holding standard licenses in their first biennial period where continuing education is required. As a result, any licensee who holds a standard salesperson’s license issued between December 1, 2007 and November 30, 2009 must complete this required course in order to renew his/her license by May 31, 2010.

The required course is broken into three seven-hour modules: a general module, a commercial module, and a residential module. Licensees must take the general module as well as the one specialty module most applicable to their practice. Specific information about real estate education providers offering the course, when and the cost must be directed to the specific providers. The list of Commission-approved education providers is available from the Commission's web site.

Online courses must be completed within 180 days (six months) of enrollment. You have 90 days to access and review the course content after you have completed the last lesson in a course.

If you cannot complete your course within 180 days you may purchase a 60-day extension for $50.00 from the Pennsylvania REALTORS® Institute. The 60-day extension period begins from the date your course originally expired. It is your responsibility to contact the Pennsylvania REALTORS® Institute to find out about purchasing an extension. It is recommended that you purchase the extension immediately after the course has expired in order to be able to have the full 60 days of the extension.

Refunds

Once you have registered/purchased a course there are no refunds. Please make sure you’ve read all of the necessary information before making your purchase final.

Transcripts/Continuing Education

Within 30 days of course completion you will receive a paper transcript in the mail from the Pennsylvania REALTORS® Institute. It is your responsibility to maintain original copies of any transcripts in the event of an audit by the State Real Estate Commission.
