In addition to meeting other licensing requirements, an individual who wants to take the salesperson’s examination to obtain a Pennsylvania salesperson’s license must:

• Have successfully completed four credits, or 60 hours, of instruction in basic real estate courses as determined by the Commission, and offered by an approved education provider.
• The Commission may recognize a bachelor’s degree in real estate from an accredited college, or university, or a juris doctor degree from an accredited law school as fulfillment of the education requirement.
• Coursework must have been completed within 10 years prior to the date of successful completion of the licensing examination.  

Online courses must be completed within 180 days (six months) of enrollment. You have 90 days to access and review the course content after you have completed the last lesson in a course.

If you cannot complete your course within 180 days you may purchase a 60-day extension for $50.00 from the Pennsylvania REALTORS® Institute. The 60-day extension period begins from the date your course originally expired. It is your responsibility to contact the Pennsylvania REALTORS® Institute to find out about purchasing an extension. It is recommended that you purchase the extension immediately after the course has expired in order to be able to have the full 60 days of the extension.

Once you have registered/purchased a course there are no refunds. Please make sure you’ve read all of the necessary information before making your purchase final.

Once you have completed the online course material you are required to sit for an in-person final exam. This is not the state licensing exam. You will receive an email from PRI with instructions on how to schedule your exam. Final exams must be completed within 90 days of course completion. Upon successful completion of the pre-licensure final exams (75% or better), please visit PSI Online for step-by-step instructions for scheduling your state licensing exams.

The minimum System Requirements are:

• Internet connection (minimum 56Kbps required, although we highly recommend a high speed connection such as DSL, cable, or T1)
