The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission has mandated that all salespersons complete 14 hours of mandatory continuing education during their first renewal cycle. For the 2010-2012 renewal cycle, this applies to those licensed on or after December 1, 2009. Anyone licensed between 12/01/09 and 11/30/11 must complete the Mandatory New Licensee Courses to renew by 5/31/12. It is the responsibility of the individual licensee to meet the continuing education requirements and to know if they must take the commission-developed courses. While these courses are required for those newly licensed, any agent may benefit and receive continuing education credits for these courses.
This course is composed of two parts, each one totaling 7 hours: a general 7 hour module and two practice specific Elective modules of 7 hours each. Required attendees must complete the general module plus one practice specific module, Residential Elective or the Commercial Elective.
The Core class covers services that agents can provide to protect the buyer and seller client as well as ways to develop professional business strategies to maximize professional development. At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to abide by all applicable laws, complete and review forms and other contracts with consumers and recognize current legal issues that affect the transfer of property.
