PAR Officers, committee chairs, vice chairs and staff wear white name badges with names and titles engraved to make us easy to identify. We welcome newcomers to the business meetings and want you to get the most out of your experience. Please find any of us to introduce yourself and allow us to help you in any way possible. At the Winter meetings there is a session designed especially for first time attendees at 10 a.m. Please consult the meeting schedule to determine what room the session will be held in and plan to attend this important session. During the Spring and Fall meetings the registration desk will have materials designed to assist first time attendees.
Below is a brief description of the standing committees that meet during business meetings and the types of work they do. Committee meetings, and the Board of Directors meeting, are open to all members, whether appointed to the committee or not. PAR encourages members who have not been appointed to a committee to participate in committee meetings. The Chair of the committee will usually recognize a non-committee member who wishes to make a comment or ask a question on the issue unless time does not permit. Occasionally, a Chair will decide that the committee needs to go into “Executive Session” to discuss committee matters that are sensitive or of a confidential nature. If Executive Session is called, non-members need to leave the meeting.
General Sessions
On Tuesdays there are usually two General Sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Topics are decided based on industry hot-topics and concerns. Often national speakers are featured.
If you have any questions about the Business Meetings please contact Brenda Florida, Director, Member Services.
