June 2011: Private Transfer Fees

Prime Sponsors of Senate Bill 353 and House Bill 442, Senator Wayne Fontana and Representative Sue Helm, explain why private transfer fees (PTFs) need to be banned in Pennsylvania. PTFs, already being recorded in Pennsylvania, are covenants attached to the deed of a property that force the seller to pay one percent of the sale price to an out-of-state privately held company, for 99 years.
 

 
 

April 2010: Proposed State Sales Tax on Services

Governor Rendell has proposed expanding the state sales tax to include professional services, which may apply to some or all of these home-buying or –selling services: broker services, mortgage origination, attorney services, surveys, appraisals, home inspections, title search, construction, architectural services and site preparation.
