• Real estate licensees are required to complete 14 hours of continuing education (CE) credit by May 31 of every even-numbered year. New licensees who obtained a salesperson license within 6 months of the renewal date (i.e., after December 1 in any odd-numbered year) are exempt from the CE requirement for that first renewal cycle.
  • For the 2018-2020 renewal cycle, 1.5 hours must be in the topic of property management, with 2 hours in the topic of advertising. The coursework must be completed between June 1, 2018 and May 31, 2020 in order to meet the requirement. New licensees who are renewing for the first time are exempt from these required topics but are still required to complete the mandatory courses for new licensees pursuant to 49 PA Code §35.384(b).
  • Brand new real estate licensees are required to take 14 hours of CE in specific, mandatory, Commission-approved courses during their first renewal cycle. Most continuing education classes do not meet the criteria for new licensee education; be sure to check with your school or local association to be sure you’re taking the right course(s).
  • Realtor® members are required to complete a minimum of 2.5 hours of approved Code of Ethics training every two years. Free, online Code of Ethics training is available through the National Association of Realtors®, or you can take other courses locally. Some local associations have additional ethics education requirements; check with your local association for more information.
  • Appraisers must complete 28 hours of continuing professional education by June 30 of every odd-numbered year.

As of 2012, PAR no longer offers continuing education or designation classes. If you’ve already earned the GRI designation there are no annual dues or renewal fees — you will retain your GRI status for as long as you remain an active Realtor® member.

Check out our Course Calendar for courses offered across the state, or check with your local association for local educational opportunities.
